Game 1: A 156 wasn't too bad considering how worse I could have done. In the early going, I missed 2 spare attempts by a combined 2 inches. I did better in the mid parts of the game, but then got 2 more open frames. I did manage to hold on in the last 2 frames. However, my team got destroyed in it's only loss of Week 2. Game 2: In Game 2, I was smooth from start to finish. Even though I didn't get 3 strikes in a row once, this is about as good as it gets while still bowling 2 open frames. It's my best game so far. My team shook off the Game 1 loss and blew Team 6 away. Game 3: My team didn't back off any in Game 3, and it resulted in another win. I didn't do as well as in Game 2, but it was still good enough. My team won the series big time. Summary: This is the 2nd time all year that my team has won 3 or more games in a week. The 509 Series I bowled was kind of expected. This is the 3rd time in my career that I've gotten two straight 500+ Series. The practicing has really paid off so far. The 600 Handicap Series is now elusive since I need a career-high performance to get it. I know that I can do it, and I will do everything to get it. It see this 600 Handicap Series as more like a 650. More information: No YAL info here. My next major test will be coming this weekend: The 1998 State Tournament at Daytona. On Saturday, I'll be bowling at Ormond Lanes, formerly known as Starlite Lanes. Way back in 1991, I set my High Game at the time with a 187, and I think my High Series as well with a 430. If my team is to get past the competition, It's going to need to total about 2,150 pins scratch. Sounds outrageous, but my team is going against hundreds of other teams. On Sunday, I will be bowling at Daytona Bowl at 8:00 AM. Man, that's early. For me to get past the competition in Singles, I will need at least a 235+ Game and 570+ Series. I know it's VERY hard, but this isn't against 25 other bowlers. It's against thousands of them. As for Doubles, I'm still going to need a 215+ Game and 535+ Series, and my partner needs to do the same as well. I hope for the best. |
